How do I grow Kefir?
Place the kefir grains (1 to 2 tablespoons of kefir) and milk (2 cups) in a glass jar with a lid and leave at room temperature for 24 hours.
Strain kefir, using a strainer, to separate the grains from the milk. Straining works well as it catches all the tiny baby kefir grains that starts to grow.
Don't rinse your kefir grains, just transfer them to fresh milk and a clean jar.
Stainless steel utensils are fine for using to strain and separate kefir, just make sure they are clean, free from soap residue . Do not leave utensils in kefir.
Do not use any reactive metals like brass, aluminum, cast iron or copper.
