HOW ARE STARTER CULTURES PACKED FOR CLIENTS?

Starter cultures are transported either with a courier, client collecting cultures at the office or other delivery methods.

All cultures are transported with ice packs and one bottle filled with water and salt to trying to keep the product as cold as possible. We do live in South Africa with very warm temperatures.

Starter cultures are fine at room temperature for 21 days. But we never want to push that button, we always try and have the delivery at the client maximum 2 - 3 days. As soon as you receive the starter cultures, please keep them in the  freezer at -18 degrees permanently for  maxishelf life of the cultures. If the culture is open, and for some reason you want to make smaller batches, reseal the sachet properly and place in another container, so that it does not absorb any moisture.

Seal the sachet with sellotape and place in a Ziploc bag inside a container, to protect the culture as much as possible. If your leave the starter cultures in a fridge, they will last 2 - 3 months max.

Shelf life of cultures can be up to 18 months. In order to get the 18 months shelf life we keep it in the freezer at -18 degrees.
